How to Tie BDSM Ropes

Rope bondage is a fun way for bottoms and tops to bond with each other. While it is never completely risk free, monitoring and communication with your partner are essential.

Especially when dealing with ropes that bind the breasts, be careful not to cut off circulation. You should always be able to slip one or two fingers between the rope and skin.

Tie the Rope

This method of restraint was developed in Japan and is slowly making its way into BDSM play. It requires a bit more practice to manage, but it looks absolutely gorgeous! It’s a great choice for aesthetic purposes and can easily be turned into full chest bondage with a little modification.

For this tie, you’ll need a 30-40 foot rope. Fold it in half and place over the top of your partner’s upper body, starting at their sternum and ending right above the belly button. Then, tie four standard overhand knots that are the length of their upper half, separating each one by a hand’s width.

Make sure the last knot is a double-tied bow in the back, then reach down and wrap the remaining strands around your partner’s arms and shoulders. Then, pass the bight through the corresponding section between each of the knots, creating a crisscross pattern in the back and a diamond pattern in the front.

Be careful not to tighten the rope too much! It’s important to keep in mind that a wrongly tied knot can cut off circulation to the wrists, knees, ankles, and other sensitive areas. Be sure to communicate with your partner and be on the lookout for discomfort. Always let your partner know if the tie is too tight, and don’t hesitate to pull on the bight to ease it.

Tie the Tie

BDSM rope bondage, or shibari as it’s also known, is all about connecting columns of the body with rope; decorating, restraining, caressing, seducing and so on. The first tie anyone should learn is the single column tie, which binds one column (wrist, leg, torso etc) together. This tie is the foundation for many of the other ties in rope bondage, such as harnesses and leg ties.

The simplest way to do the single column is with wrists to ankles, but it can be done on any part of the body. For example, if you’re a more flexible bottom, try wrists to thighs. The next step is to cross the two ropes across each other behind the bottom’s back. This will create the typical diamond shape that’s used in Hishi Karada and other full body harnesses.

It’s important to remember that the bdsm rope needs to be pulled very tight and there should be only a few fingers’ width of space between the cuff and the skin, so the bottom doesn’t get cut or bitten. The cuffs should also be positioned at the outer part of the wrist rather than the inner to prevent nerve damage. If you’re new to bdsm rope, it’s helpful to have some safety shears on hand in case the ties become too tight or someone needs to escape.

Tie the Loop

It’s important to know how to tie the loop of a BDSM rope. This way, you can restrain your partner while they’re in bed or chair or whatever other position you choose for them. It’s also a great way to please them and give them pleasure. There are many different types of knots you can use, but this one is a good place to start.

You should always play with a partner you trust and have clear communication about your boundaries. Be sure to discuss any pre-existing health issues that could impact your experience and have a safe word to use during the scene. It’s also a good idea to have safety scissors within reach, especially if you have sensitive skin.

This tutorial by two knotty boys is an oldie but a goodie, and covers some of the essentials. It doesn’t have voice-over, but it shows the steps clearly. This is a must-watch for anyone new to bondage ropes.

This tying technique, often referred to as the Frog Tie, is a modification of the single column tie. It’s a fun variation on a standard overhand knot and will add height to the bottom’s teases. It’s also an excellent bind to use on the ankles, wrists or both. If you’re comfortable with it, try tying it around the anus to make the bottom feel even more restricted.

Tie the Knot

In the BDSM community, there are a lot of different ways to tie someone up. Many of them are beautiful and kink-oriented, but they also require thought and planning. This is because the ties are not just meant to restrain the bottom, but to please the top as well.

One of the most interesting ways to do this is with a full body harness. It can be very uncomfortable for the bottom, but it is incredibly sexy and effective. It also highlights curves and makes a bottom feel hugged tightly.

To tie this harness, start by wrapping the rope around the body and tying a simple double-knot. This will create a small loop that you can use to wrap the wrists. Make sure you don’t cinch the cuffs too tight, as it could lead to circulation problems and skin burns. Instead, leave enough space for your fingers to fit between the rope and the bottom’s hand.

Next, take the bight and run it through the loop that is at the end of the working end. Then, pull it down between the bottom’s hands. When you do this, it will form a small cuff that you can then tie a knot on top of.

This is a fairly simple way to tie a bdsm rope. However, it can be dangerous if the knot is too tight or if the bottom is not careful. To avoid this, it is always a good idea to practice on a soft surface and to test the knot with your partner before using it for BDSM.
