How to Get the Right Size Condom

Using the right condom is important to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. It is also a way to enhance pleasure and sensation.

To find the right size condom, you should measure both length and girth of your penis. This is best done while the penis is erect.

You can use a ruler, measuring tape or even a piece of string.

Length

While you might assume that a condom is a one size fits all, it is actually quite the opposite. Condoms are available in a variety of lengths and widths, and finding your perfect fit can make all the difference when it comes to surprisingly pleasurable safe sex.

For the most accurate results, measure your penis while it is fully erect and use a ruler or flexible measuring tape. Using a piece of string can also work, but be sure to mark the point where it crosses over your semen sac at the thickest part of the shaft. Then, simply compare this length to the lengths listed on the condom packaging and choose a size that matches.

A condom that is too long might slip off during sex or after ejaculation, while a condom that is too short might not be able to cover the entire shaft of your penis and might break during sexual activity. In addition, a tight condom might be uncomfortable, especially during sex and after ejaculation.

When the length measurements on the packaging don’t match up with your penis size, try focusing on girth instead. This is the measurement from the base of your penis to the tip of the shaft. This can be determined by a simple toilet paper roll test (see the video below). Generally, a standard condom that has a normal width is considered a large fit. However, there are also a number of XL and wide condoms on the market.

Width

It’s important to remember that girth is more important than length when it comes to choosing a condom. If a condom is too short, it might not hold up in the rectum and may break or slip off during penetration. Condoms that are too wide can be uncomfortable and may cause friction with the urethra.

To measure girth, you’ll need a flexible measuring tape or a piece of string. Gently wrap the measuring tool around your erect penis, from where it meets your pelvis or waist (the base of your erection) to the tip. This measurement will give you your girth, which is the diameter of your penis. Next, divide your girth by pi (3.14). This will give you your penis width.

While measurements and calculations can be helpful, the best way to get a good fit is by trying on a few different condoms. The right size condom will add to pleasure and sensation, while keeping you and your partner safe. While finding your perfect condom may take a bit of trial and error, remember that a good fit means a happy ending.

Girth

It’s not always easy to find a condom that fits just right. At times, the difference can be only a few millimetres which could mean the difference between one that is too tight and uncomfortable to wear, or one that slips off during sex. It’s important to measure the girth of your penis rather than the length. A condom that is too small can cause pain during sex, and could tear, break or leak fluids. A condom that is too large can cause friction and make it painful to use, and could also break or slip off during sex.

You can find your girth measurement by using a ruler or measuring tape to gently wrap around the thickest part of your erect penis. Then, find the length of the condom that is the closest to your girth measurement. You can also use a condom size chart to help you choose a suitable size. Most external condoms are labelled by their length, while those used internally are labelled by their width.

Most condom brands have a range of sizes to accommodate a wide variety of penis girths. If you find that a particular brand doesn’t offer the correct size, try other brands in your girth category to see what feels best. If you are unsure of what size to buy, consider choosing a textured or ribbed condom that provides extra grip.

Stretch

Choosing a condom that fits well is important for your safety, as it reduces the risk of both unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. Fortunately, there are plenty of sizes on the market to accommodate most penis girths. The best size condom for you will be one that feels like a second skin without being too tight or loose.

To find the right condom, you’ll need to measure both length and girth. To do this, wrap a flexible tape measure around the thickest part of your erection. Make sure to not squeeze your penis, which can cause an inaccurate measurement. Once you’ve got your length and girth measurements, compare them to the measurements on a condom’s packaging.

Remember that if your girth measurement falls between the smallest and largest condom on the market, it’s better to go with the larger option. It may take a little trial and error to find the perfect fit, but it’s worth it. A condom that’s too small can break, and one that’s too large can lead to slippage, which increases the risk of both STI transmission and pregnancy (Veale, 2014).

If you’re still not sure what size condom will work for you, try taking a piece of toilet paper and sliding it on your erect penis. If the paper fits comfortably, then you’ll probably want a standard condom. If it’s snug, then you may need to step up to a Magnum or a slimmer-fit condom like the B Condom.
